Design Process

1. Discovery Phase: Identifying Problems Through Research

To fully grasp the complexities of the investment process, I conducted in-depth discussions with subject matter experts (SMEs). This allowed me to identify key challenges faced by users:

  • Lack of a clear overview of investment performance and portfolio health.

  • Confusion around essential actions like rebalancing and recurring investments.

  • Limited guidance for new or less-experienced investors.

2. Define Phase: Brainstorming Solutions

After identifying pain points, I collaborated with my team to propose potential solutions. Key ideas included:

  • Designing a user-friendly landing page to provide an overview of portfolio metrics.

  • Creating intuitive flows for essential actions, such as buying/selling mutual funds and recurring investments.

  • Highlighting actionable insights, such as recommended rebalancing periods and performance metrics.

3. Design Phase: Prototyping the Improved Design

Using insights from brainstorming, I developed high-fidelity prototypes to refine the user experience. Key improvements included:

  • Streamlined Navigation: Simplified pathways to critical tasks.

  • Enhanced Data Visualization: Visual cues to highlight portfolio health and trends.

  • Integrated Action Flows: Flows for mutual fund transactions, recurring investments, and portfolio rebalancing.

4. Testing Phase: Usability Testing and Iteration

I conducted usability tests with internal stakeholders and end-users. Feedback included:

  • “This makes managing my investments much easier!”

  • “I love how the flows guide me step by step.”

Based on feedback, I iterated on design elements, ensuring users could access key features effortlessly.

5. Implementation Phase: Finalizing the Design

The final design addressed user challenges effectively:

  • Comprehensive Investment Overview: Simplifies tracking performance and actions.

  • Actionable Insights: Ensures users stay informed and make timely decisions.

  • User-Friendly Flows: Supports advanced investment tasks while minimizing confusion.

The result is an inviting and intuitive dashboard, empowering users to manage their investments with confidence and ease.
